The New Tube

Over the last decade, the internet has grown to become one of the most used pieces of your daily lives. Virtually almost every aspect of our lives has been moved to the internet; shopping, socializing, and even watching TV. FaceBook is now our way of talking to friends, seeing whats up, and whose birthday it is. But there YouTube has become a site that is now more popular than any other. Originally, it was more for home videos, funny clips, and commercials. Now most every new song has a music video which is immediately posted on YouTube. Many kids upload video clips of theirselves doing stupid things such as:

Others do insanely stupid miraculous tricks like running from the police and evading with some amazing stunt.

I personally do not upload videos for others enjoyment. I DO however watch many videos a day; on average 10 videos. Most of the videos I watch are music videos, and random remixes of songs that can't be found anywhere else.

Another thing that i like about YouTube is how the content is somewhat censored and isn't provocative. YouTube has an entire team thats dedicated to reviewing videos so that it doesn't turn into some filthy site. However some of the videos that are for older kids, require you to have an account so that you can watch a video, and agree to that you are about 18 years old.

The only thing I have began to despise is how every video, the screen gets violated with an add no one cares for. Also, before many clips begin, an advertisement for a TV show or new car comes on. Being that an average video is 3 minutes long, about 10% of it is spent in more things that few people care about. Despite hating these adds, I can't blame YouTube for displaying them, being that they are getting millions for them.

There's no doubt that YouTube continues to grow. As it said in the Future of YouTube, The YouTube reader reading in the epilogue section, YouTube has announced their Beta television. Being that the company is based on people being to upload videos, latest news, and TV/Movie trailers, YouTube is a website that will continue to expand and draw in more traffic and money.
Google buying out YouTube was a great decision.

Even though YouTube is a video website, it still doesn't have all of movies and tv shows. YouTube adheres to legal contracts with companies that have copyrighted production. Other sites, such as Hulu, show TV shows to the public for free.

In the Future of YouTUbe reading, it says that in April 2009, YouTube has officially partnered with Sony to expand their TV and music library.

As it stands, YouTube is one of the top 3 websites used in America, drawing in more ages and diverse people than any other video site.

  1. I love the video "Operation Taco Bell!" The Volkswagen commercial is also one of my favorites on TV right now. I agree with you about how annoying it is to have ads constantly popping up and delaying the start of your video.

  2. I have to agree that these ads are destroying the "fun" and "cool" of youtube, especially the long 1 minute ones before the video even starts. I have to disagree with you though that I think that Youtube users that are 18+ years of age should be able to watch uncensored material. I mean, why not? We are over 18, we should be able to watch more adult material, and I'm not saying that youtube should show porn, but clips from movies that might have an edgy scene or what not. With the addition of edgier clips, youtube can expand larger than we could ever imagine.
